Irish Science & Technology Journalists' Association (ISTJA)

ISTJA is an association of full time journalists in print, broadcasting and new media, who have a strong interest in science and/or technology. Its objectives are: to sustain and improve the quality of coverage of science and techology by its members; to increase awareness of scientific and technological developments and issues; and to assist its members to network. It represents about 90% of working science journalists in Ireland.
Key Activities:
ISTJA organises an informal monthly meeting of its members, training for members, public events, and group visits to universities and research institutes. In September 2005, ISTJA co-hosted a visit of EUSJA members to Dublin with the Association of British Science Writers, their sister organisation in the UK.

Leading officers are elected at an annual general assembly and the Executive Office then meets on an ongoing basis by e-mail and in person.
Financing: The annual budget (€ 500 - 5 000) is sourced from membership fees and occasional activity-based sponsorship.
