Science Journalism belongs to the World

June 22, 2009 posted in Sci.Journalism
“There is growing excitement, however, about emerging opportunities for global expansion of science journalism …”

An editorial in the latest issue of Science provides a balanced perspective on the challenges facing science journalism in the industrialized world, and the opportunities for its expansion in the developing world.

Cristine Russell, president of the United States’ Council for the Advancement of Science Writing, author of the editorial, says that while science journalism is facing hard times in North America and Europe, it is expanding in Africa, Asia, Latin America and in the Middle East.

Her editorial is an invitation to see the evidence for this new balanced world of science journalism at the World Conference of Science Journalists, which opens in London, Tuesday June 29.
