Energy of Word

The Energy of Word is an international media award organised by the Global Energy Prize. It was created to encourage journalists to cover the most urgent energy issues facing the world today, to promote analysis of global energy trends and to contribute to the search for answers to energy challenges. Initially established in 2004 as a Russia-wide competition, in 2011 the award was opened up to journalists from around the world for the first time.

Entry Requirements
We accept articles, opinion pieces and interviews published in journals, magazines and newspapers (including those published online).
The nominated feature can be published in any country at any time between 1 March 2011 and 1 March 2012.

The feature can be nominated by:
  • Writers
  • The publication in which the piece was originally published 
  • Journalistic societies or groups
  • Publishers
Evaluation Criteria
  • Feature must be related to energy
  • Quality of research 
  • Innovative views or research of the subject
  • Objectivity 
  • Quality of writing
Language
Submissions can be made in any language. If the piece is not in English or Russian please ensure that it is accompanied by a brief synopsis in English including any major points in bullet point format.

Closing Date
All entries for the Energy of Word award must be received by 6 April 2012. Unfortunately, any entries submitted after this date will not be considered for the award.

Awards Ceremony
The awards ceremony takes place at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum during the Global Energy Prize Laureates’ Week.

Prize
The winner will receive a week-long all-expenses paid trip to St Petersburg, Russia, to take part in the Global Energy Prize Laureate’s Week as a special guest. The winner will also carry out an exclusive interview with the new 2012 laureate.
