Assistant Editor - Nature Middle East

Nature Middle East, an online publication from the publishers of Nature, the world’s premier scientific journal. Nature Middle East is dedicated to highlighting the very best science conducted (or partly conducted) by researchers in the Arabic-speaking Middle East, as well as providing a timely science news and features outlet.

The portal has been online for a little over a year and a half and in this short period has become the most comprehensive reference for science news in the region, providing material in English and Arabic. As part of our growth, we are now seeking a dedicated, excellent Assistant Editor to join the team in the Cairo offices.

The Assistant Editor will report directly to the Editor and will be involved in the editorial cycle of production, including commissioning writers, editing articles and writing pieces. They will be closely involved in the portal’s growth, maximising its regional impact and growth.

  • Fluent in both English and Arabic
  • A bachelor of science degree or an equivalent or higher with a science major
  • Editorial experience in science journalism
  • Knowledge and understanding of the scientific research community and its needs, globally and, particularly, in the Arabic-speaking Middle East
  • Sound understanding and interest in biological and physical sciences
  • Good grasp of new media tools and social networks
  • Ability to work constructively within a team
