SciDev.Net/IDRC science journalism internship awards 2013

SciDev.Net is delighted to invite applications from early-career science journalists for two six-month internships.

One award is being offered to a science journalist working in the Middle East and North Africa region. The second is offered to a science journalist working in East Africa.

The internships are being offered with support from Canada's International Development Research Centre (IDRC), and will allow the selected journalists to work for six months with the editorial staff of both one of SciDev.Net's regional offices, and its main office in London.

Each award will include a monthly stipend, as well as travel and accommodation expenses within the region to carry out research on news and feature articles for SciDev.Net. Such articles will be developed under close guidance from a dedicated mentor working from the London office.

The awards will cover the period 1 January to 30 June 2013, and all applicants must be available to work solely for SciDev.Net during this period.

There will be visits to London at the beginning and end of the internship, and it is also planned that the awardees will participate in the World Conference of Science Journalists, which takes place in Helsinki, Finland, in June.

Applications are invited from science journalists living in either region who will be under the age of 35 on 1 January 2013.
